MEET THE NEW 2023 CHEVY CAMARO

New 2023 Chevy Camaro USA Rumors

New 2023 Chevy Camaro USA Rumors – A new report from Muscle Cars and Trucks alleges that may also happen after 2023, which is when the current sixth-generation ‘Maro is scheduled to end production.

The report cites “multiple sources” at General Motors as saying the next-generation Camaro program is suspended, with no clear future beyond 2023. The sources also allegedly said the sign was likely to be kept, meaning there was no more Camaro for the second time in the pony car’s history.

2023 Chevy Camaro Changes

Switching from a front-engined layout to a middle-engined one is the most significant change Chevrolet has ever made to the legendary Corvette. The move was not easy. Chevy started the project by installing an engine behind the Holden Ute to prove its concept.

It seems to have paid off, though, as the C8 Corvette is much more advanced than the car it replaces, and everyone is wondering when other carmakers will release mid-engined competitors.

As it turns out, the next mid-engine American Sports Car won’t come from Ford or Fiat Chrysler. Instead, it will come from Chevy, which today announced that the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro would be center-engined.

That’s certainly not a denial, but it’s also not the last nail in the Camaro’s coffin. Going tight with future sales does look bleak; deliveries for the sixth-generation Camaro have dropped steadily since it was introduced in 2016, with just under 51,000 finding homes in 2018.

It was the lowest sales year so far since the Camaro revival in 2009, and the numbers through the first three months of 2019 are only slightly better. An unacceptable 2019 facelift can be blamed for that, and to Chevrolet’s credit, another facelift for 2020 brings back a more traditional look to the front of the car.

Also, it should be noted that sales for the Ford Mustang have dropped in recent years, though not quite extreme. It will be interesting to see if Camaro sales rebound for the 2020 model year with a fresh face.

This is a big step for Chevy, as the brand will now have two mid-engine sports cars in its lineups, such as Ferrari and Lamborghini. Details are scarce around the Camaro 2023 but this new image gives you an idea of what the car looks like. Obviously, adding a second mid-engined car to the lineup means Chevy will continue to keep the Camaro under the Corvette in terms of performance.

Beyond that, Muscle Cars and Trucks reports also show that the Camaro chassis is divided by the now de-functioning Cadillac ATS and CTS. That’s not to say the next-generation Camaro can’t switch to another platform, but the report also highlights the various Camaro Team members that GM has sent to other projects. Put it all together, and frankly, there’s a big case in favor of cancellation claims.

2023 Chevy Camaro Engine

So what does this mean for the Camaro V8 engine? Well, if both cars offer the same LT2 V8 producing 490 horsepower, we’re not sure why you won’t just get a Corvette. This leads us to believe Chevy will likely downsize its choice of Camaro engine, offering only the turbocharged four-cylinder option and V6 option, perhaps even a hybrid.

If we had to guess, we’d say GM would be watching Camaro – and Mustang – sell very closely over the next 12 months. If there are signs of life, there’s no reason to believe automakers can’t push ahead with the new plan. If, however, sales continue to underwhelm, we might as well see Chevrolet warhorses extinguishing pastures again.

So what does this mean for the Camaro V8 engine? Well, if both cars offer the same LT2 V8 that produces 490 horsepower, we’re not sure why you don’t get the Corvette alone. This led us to believe that Chevy would likely reduce Camaro engines’ choice, offering only a choice of four turbocharged cylinders and a V6 option, perhaps even a hybrid.

Muscle car enthusiasts may be lamenting the loss of the V8. Still, with some rumors pointing towards an all-electric Camaro by 2023, we feel this mid-engined car is a more attractive alternative. The Camaro is likely to be smaller and lighter than the Corvette, and unlike its older brother, it can even offer a choice of manual transmissions.
